When people leave the islands on the ferry to go back to the mainland, they say they're going "back to America." Another way of saying it's back to reality. The hour it takes goes by much too quickly.
On the way the sun sank behind the trees. It was growing dark as the ferry docked, cars started their engines and pulled off toward the highway. We headed toward the airport - a two hour drive. Turned in the car, shuttled to the airport, drank a mocha latte and flew home. Vacation over. But the memories will last and of course there are the photos. This one is best seen on black.
Absolutely stunning on black! What a gorgeous set of photos from this trip. Hope you continue to post more of them. They'd make a great coffee table book.
Beautiful! I have such fond memories of Puget Sound and Washington State from when I lived there and visited! It's been a long time since I was there, alas.
@vtalbott can't wait to see your photos! @taffy Thanks for suggesting doing a book. I've been going to Orcas several times a year for 7 years so it's definitely time to organize hundreds of photos! @congaree you'll have to make a return visit!
Gorgeous sunset, beautiful reflections, FAV!! This must have been the favorite island you were talking about in the next photo. I did not realize that you went to Orcas that often....that must have a pretty special place in your heart!
