Hanga Roa, meaning “wide bay’ is the capital and only town on Easter Island. Most of the island’s 3000 inhabitants live in this village which has a small bank, post office, and a few trinket shops. It rained each day during my visit but it seemed that the sun was determined to burn through the overcast every afternoon just before sunset.
