My favorite tree is the Northwest Madrona. It’s papery red bark sheds throughout the summer, revealing a smooth surface that can range from yellow to tan to green. Commonly found on the bluffs and slopes of the San Juan Islands, Madronas can grow from 50 to 80 feet tall and can live more than 200 years.
Mine too. There is a huge one at Indralaya, a Theosophist camp where i used to spend Two weeks every summer that has the most amazing shapes on her old branches. They reminded me of varicose veins and on her they were beautiful. She helped me be more accepting of my own.
