Was surprised to see pink phone boxes in Covent Garden the other day, as was this passer-by. Turns out it was only undercoat and the painter who had come down specially from Liverpool said it was the one of the last 7 out of 200 they'd been commissioned to spruce up before the Queen's Jubilee and the Olympics. He added that the boxes that don't quite make the grade were being removed and could be bought for about £200, although it'd probably cost more than that to actually transport it home.
Imagine the amount of money that is being spent to spruce everything up for the queen! Must admit I would love to own one of these and a police box to boot.
