Watching a deceit of lapwings flying around overhead.

Those are the rocks I was walking on two days ago, so in Sunday's photo I was looking down on this reservoir.

Lovely, though not wintry. Do you happen to know why a group of lapwings is called a deceit?

@tristansmum I didn't know but I've done some research and it appears the Greek name for lapwing was Polyplakgos, which means luring on deceitfully, so presumably the collective noun comes from the Greek name. That just opens up another question really though, I wonder why the Greeks described them so!

The water is such a gorgeous blue Louise and good to see the reservoir at ground level after your shot from the rocks the other day. I've learnt something new today - a deceit of lapwings. Will have to remember that one.
