365 Days Wild - Day 288

A busy day but a lovely sunny day so I made the most of the longer daylight this evening and spent a bit of time at Home on the moorlands...

There was a flock of lapwings in one field and a couple of fields along there was a solitary lapwing which I was rather close to and was able to watch for a while (until he flew on and joined the others). He was feeding and foot tapping to disturb insects from their cover and encourage them to the surface.

There are a couple more photos on the blog, but not good ones!

Life has become rather busy all of a sudden at the moment with lots going on. I'm trying to get up to date with things today but apologies if I'm a bit inactive here (especially with commenting!) over the next couple of weeks.

Great shot Louise, must have been good to be so close to it.

Love the patterns and colours on the wing Louise. Great capture and exciting to watch by the sound of it.

What a pretty bird. I like the crest, and the hint of colour on the wing.

I don't think I've seen one before, they sure have a funky hair do ;-)

@mazaz @suebarni yes, the 'hair' usually lies flat and sort of streams behind the head, but it was windy!
