Derbyshire Wildlife Trust held a volunteers gathering at their new re-opened Whistlestop Centre in Matlcok Bath this evening which included river dipping in the Derwent.
I always love river dipping but rarely get to do it. We caught bullheads, swimming mayfly larvae, a couple of different beetles, cranefly larvae... all the usual kinds of creatures.
After I saw great crested newt efts in the pond in the wildlife garden and had a hawker dragonfly flying around really close to me :)
