A voluntary day with Derbyshire Wildlife Trust, helping run Wild Wednesday. It's been so long since I did a Wild Wednesday! We were indoors today due to the frequent heavy showers (various Easter / Egg themed nature crafts on offer) but I took groups out for pond dipping sessions too.
I fished a toad out in the net on my first dip! I've never caught a toad whilst pond dipping before. This little girl absolutely loved it. I also found an alder fly larva, another pond dipping first for me, and I heard my first chiff chaff of the year near the pond too.
It was so good to be outdoors :)
Oh, and I made a nesting wreath for the birds which I brought home to put in the garden. I haven't put it out yet but may take a photo of that tomorrow.
I love toads! My middle one once found one in the garden, look mummy, and he popped the toad right on the kitchen table. The toad started to hop and almost fell off!
