Fennel Fuelstop

Lorquin's Admiral, Limenitis lorquini
A peaceful moment before this pugnacious butterfly goes back on patrol. While defending their territory they will attempt to drive off other butterflies and even small birds.
Great shot.

Hi Robert - thank you for your comment on my DEAD fly. Just as you were posting that I was writing an edit to my photo... not quite as detailed and informative as yours of course.... hahaha. Where do you learn such things? From your beautiful flower and insect photos can I asume this is an interest of yours?

Oh yeah, a definite fav! Beautiful shot of a gorgeous butterfly! I have seen them chase off other bugs! I have mean bees in my yard too that will chase birds, bugs, whatever away from their flowers.
