Croydon Airport used to be London's international airport, but it was overtaken by Heathrow and closed in 1959. It is now open to visitors, albeit on the first Sunday of the month. It has a special place in aviation history; Amy Johnson flew to Australia and back from here, and Lindbergh landed the Spirit of St Louis on his way back from Paris. He was greeted by a crowd of 100,000 well wishers!
