Keere Street, Lewes by rumpelstiltskin

Keere Street, Lewes

Keere Street is a very steep street in Lewes, East Sussex. There is a sign at the bottom saying that the Prince Regent (future King George IV) drove a coach and four horses down the street for a bet.
Despite the rain and the cobbles, I managed to walk both up and down it without falling over.
Nice shot.

Looks a bit slippy. I presume it's pedestrians only?

What a beautiful street and well captured. I like the addition of the people. Love the shininess( if it's a real word) of the cobbles.

Beautiful street, nice brickwork, nice stonework.

(As for the bet, G. ought to have asked the horses first and I bet that they would have refused. If the carriage didn't have brakes, holding it back was extremely painful for the horses...)

@jon_lip It is open to vehicles at the top of the hill, but there are bollards at the other end. I would have taken my shot from the bottom of the hill, but there was a 4x4 parked in the middle of the street!

@octogenarian Thank you. Yes, I imagine the horses would not have enjoyed taking part in the bet.
