A Room of One's Own

This is Virginia Woolf's writing lodge, in the garden of her East Sussex home, Monk's House. She lived there from 1919 until her death in 1941; her husband Leonard lived at Monk's House until he died in 1969. They were part of the Bloomsbury Set, which was a group of artists, writers and intellectuals who produced influential work and led colourful lives. I have long been fascinated by them, and took the opportunity to visit nearby Charleston, where the artist Vanessa Bell (Virginia's sister) lived with Duncan Grant and Clive Bell, and Berwick Church, which has murals by Vanessa Bell, her son Quentin, and Duncan Grant.
Great lighting.

I am always amazed by how very ordinary such places are... Nicely caught.

Nicely moody shot. I wonder if the old Underwood typewriter still works?
