Grants of Croydon was a department store and was built in the late 19th Century by the Grant brothers, who were tailors. When Croydon had London's only international airport, Grants sold Royal Air Force uniforms and was a popular destination for French aristocrats. Croydon became decidedly less glamorous from the 1960s onwards, and the department store closed in the 1980s. However, the building was listed and then redeveloped in the early 2000s and it now houses a cinema and various restaurants.
