Good details - What part of Croydon is this? I can never recall a House of Fraser when I was there - just a Kennards which I think became Debenhams and Allders and they were virtually opposite one another.
@followthatdreamphotography Michael, thank you very much for all your comments and for following me! This shot is of the back of Centrale, a shopping centre that was built around 15 years ago. The front entrance is in North End, roughly where C&A used to be, and this photo shows the other entrance in Tamworth Road. The Whitgift Centre is marked for demolition in the next year or so, and will be replaced by a new Westfield shopping centre, so Centrale and House of Fraser might be the only places to shop while the building works continue!
Wow, I probably would not recognise much of it now apart from the street names. The Whitgift Centre has been around for about 50 odd years and when it was first built, it was seen as som etching pretty special and different. Just looking at Google Earth, some of the roads look new too - the one opposite West Croydon Station was not there when I was last in Croydon which was probably around 2003. I’ll have to try and get down there when the slightly warmer weather comes. In the meantime, I’ll watch out for more of your photos from the area.
