Another shot from my recent trip to the Queen's House in Greenwich.
The Queen's House was designed by Inigo Jones for Anne of Denmark, who was the wife of James I. After she died in 1619, the building works were left incomplete for 10 years, before Jones returned and finished it for Queen Henrietta Maria, wife of Charles I.
The Tulip Stairs is a spiral staircase and the first unsupported staircase in Britain. Each step is cantilevered to the wall and supported by the step below. It is named after the flowers that decorate the iron banisters, although a guide said that they might not be tulips!
