The sunken garden at Cannizaro Park

The Cannizaro estate in Wimbledon was known as a country retreat in the 19th century, and hosted literary guests such as Oscar Wilde, Lord Tennyson and Henry James. It was privately owned until it was sold to the council in 1948. The grounds are now open to the public, and the house is run as a hotel.
