Pantomime portraits

A belated Happy New Year to everyone at 365 Project, and sorry for not commenting on your photos for a while.

I was lured back into photography at the weekend by my sister-in-law. She is producing a pantomime and asked me to photograph the dress rehearsal.

For those of you who don't know what a pantomime is, it's a play based on a fairytale which features comedy and music. Men play some of the female characters, women dress up as male characters, and there are silly jokes for the children and ruder ones that (hopefully) only the adults will understand. Pantomime season normally happens during Christmas and the New Year in the UK. Most regional theatres will host one, as will many amateur theatrical groups.

This is a shot from the opening scene with all the characters on the stage. The play is called 'The Lockdown Beauty' and is based on Sleeping Beauty, but inspired by the pandemic. I'll be posting shots of different scenes and characters over the next few days.
