Pukekohe area is well known for growing onions, alot a mechanically harvested but some are still harvested by hand for the elite export market, the chap picking up the onions was only to happy to pose for a photo.........
These are great photographs of the great Pukekohe Potato! However, down south in my area we have the new one, Jersey Benne! Can't get photos like these though!
Wonderful shot Karen....I have never seen onions growing like this so very interesting....must try & go up to your area one day. Love this guys halo of , I presume onion tops.
@happypat Thanks Pat, at the moment there is onions sitting to dry everywhere. The guy's Halo is made with some cheap plastic flowers......why he would be wearing that is anyones guess.
