Metrosideros by rustymonkey

Metrosideros

Up at the winter gardens the otherday, saw this metrosideros floweing, think it is the variety Tahiti
What an unusual and eye catching flower. really great focus. Ironically, although everyone seems to get excited when they see bokeh (and I rarely managet to capture it,) it almost detracts from this flower as it draws the eye away with so much in the background. A gorgeous shot anyway.

Beautiful exotic looking flower.......is it anything like the NZ Christmas tree flower...beginning with a P but can't spell?

@happypat In the same family, the true NZ christmas tree is a pohutukawa this is a smaller growing variety, flowers at a different time of year as well.
