This year was the 40th anniversary of the pony club annual trek, for 40 years the pony club has been trekking out to Whananaki initially the trek left from Kauri and was an eight hour trek but with alot of land being split up it became eaiser to trek from a closer point, but as this was the 40th some riders rode the old trek and met up at the closer point and rode the last four hours with those trekkers. my daughters has done the trek for over 25 years now and this year her two daughters 7 and 9 trekked with her for the four hour trek.
