Ok Sally. I've had a bit of time to flip thru your gorgeous album - and it is indeed gorgeous! I was wanting to challenge you with something you don't normally do since I noticed several times you complained of a lack of mojo. So my challenge to you is to do another textures/layers project like you did on Jan 29. You said in your comments that you would change a thing or two, so here's your chance to do it again with different photos. Hope you have fun!

Pulled out my insect book just for you! It's a Monarch (had to be sure my memory was serving me correctly because the Viceroy is very similar but has different markings on the lower wings). And it's also a great shot of this beauty!

This is a lovely tribute. I will miss Sue's wit and fun...and great pics, Super shot!

@olivetreeann Ann I'm not sure we get the Monarch but we have one known as Painted Lady, which looks very similar. I don't know which this one is. I was visiting a butterfly house (not sure what the correct term would be) and most of the butterflies are 'imported' whilst still in the pupae phase. Unfortunately they don't have any boards up telling you which butterflies you are likely to find flitting around.

I looked it up in my butterfly book Sally. I know the Painted Lady as well, but this is definitely a Monarch. I've been to a butterfly house and it's so much fun because you get to see butterflies that would not normally be in your area thanks to the controlled climate and the specified foods for them. I thought I had a picture of one in my project but after 4 years of pictures in 2 albums I couldn't find it! So next best thing- the Painted Lady is in the first picture on this discussion thread!

@olivetreeann thanks Ann. My first butterfly capture was a painted lady - http://365project.org/salza/365/2013-10-11 - and you correctly identified it as well!

@salza I just love looking things up and learning what they are- maybe a little over the top with it, but I just love to learn. Wish I could keep all that info straight in my brain though! That was fun to look back on your first butterfly post too!
