I have been experimenting with Photoshop and turned a photo into a painting. It was very time consuming but I am fairly happy with the outcome.

OMG, Sally! You SHOULD be thrilled with that! For all the world I took it as one of your paintings! It seems totally in keeping with your style! And as for the "time consuming" park, isn't that what we love to do?! In my book, that's what I call "relaxing" (Really!)

Just saw your funny tag! Why not add the ETSOOI # something or other...you'll need to look it up, but I'd say this works!

@Weezilou Louise, I'm not sure I can tag for the challenge as the photo was taken over a month ago!
The child's father also thought I had painted it!

@willowdragon Al, this was done using multiple layers. Started out with a photo, added a new white layer, drew a rough outline (just like you did with Willow's pic). Using the paint brush tool, with the opacity set low - around 20 - gradually build up the shading. I used new layers for the eyes, the hair etc. In the end I think I had about 6 or 7 layers excluding the original photo. One thing I did like with this is that you can use a photo that is not sharp. I was going to bin the original shot as the focus is rather soft.

@salza thanks for that. I used the pencil on mine as I wanted the cartoon look. Check out free brushes on Deviantart .... I have just fownloaded some paint effect ones to try ☺
