I have some of these plants that have popped up in areas where I have never planted them. They are rather pretty and the flower only lasts for around two days.

@ribbet9 no Candace, it is a dietes grandiflora. They are indigenous to South Africa and are part of the iris family. Some common names that it is known by include wild iris and fairy iris
I guess you can thank the birdies for giving you these lovely flowers. They look very similar to an iris that blooms around here called Blue Flag (there is also a yellow flag).
