Spike gets Moonlight to canter in a circle around him. Notice that he isn't using a lunging line or anything attached to the horse. She works to his voice and hand signals. This is all part and parcel of clicker training.

Get Pushed Challenge: I have been doing this challenge on and off...
@30pics4jackiesdiamond Jackie this is an explanation I found on the internet - Clicker training involves shaping behavior in small steps, identifying the behavior, as it occurs, with some kind of marker signal. You start out by working with the animal to get them to associate a 'click' with getting a treat (usually food). Then you ask for certain behaviours eg a sit or down (when working with a dog). The instant they do the behaviour you click. One example of clicker style training is the method used to train dolphins, seals etc to perform in aquariums. I hope this has answered your question and not just confused you!
Beautiful capture of Moonlight in action. I'm interested in the saddle plus stirrups - surely with a rider on board the stirrups wouldn't be swinging free? Just wondering ;) But then I suppose the clicker method wouldn't be used with a rider? I really must look into this more but my horseriding days are very much in the past.
@kwiksilver Gillian, Spike does also ride her. When he rides he just attaches a rein to the ring on the halter. No bit or anything. She works beautifully with him. Some of the training sessions are done without the saddle. I must say the stirrups flapping about don't seem to worry her at all.
Although I became familiar with clicker training through our rescue dog, Princesse who had been traumatised by having been put in a cupboard, it had never occurred to me that it would equally apply to other species.
VML the motion of this. The rapport between Spike and Moonligh is evident as M wheels to the right in response to S indication with his right hand.
Hi Sally, we are teamed up for get pushed this week.
I found it a challenge to issue you a challenge, for this week how about numbers, create an abstract having numbers as the main subject and then create your own quote to represent it. Up to you how many numbers you include & whether it be colour or b&w, can't wait to see what you come up with
