At the end of September every year Tulbagh hosts an agricultural show (which consists of predominantly horses). It is the longest running agricultural show in South Africa - this year was the 144th show.
I'm from Tulbagh, Western Cape, South Africa. Tulbagh is a small farming community.
Get Pushed Challenge: I have been doing this challenge on and off...
Wonderful equine shot, great pov. Love the splash of red against that magnificent horse's coat and the dark clothes of the rider. Looks like a heavy-duty bit.
@golftragic I must say that I am not in favour of the way some of the horses are trained and housed. In my humble opinion some of the methods are tantamount to cruelty. I don't usually go to the show, but I was helping out at the stall that our local animal welfare had at there.
@salza We're on the same page Sally. Both my grand-daughters ride at anything up to State-level and they wouldn't dream of using anything that stressed the horse.
Hello, Sally, and thank you for my challenge this week! I've had a look through your albums for the past 3-4 months and there's quite an eclectic body of work there. My challenge to you is candid "street" people photography. I am mindful of your location, so this can be anywhere there are people transacting conversations, business or just general daily living - local petrol station, bus stop, general store, church, farmers market, library, bank, bar/restaurant, coffee shop, coffee morning, wherever. As a subsidiary challenge (optional) the image should be shot with a shallow depth of field in black and white. Happy shooting!
@peadar ooh, that's quite a challenge for me! I really struggle when it comes to any form of people photography. The shallow dof and black and white shouldn't pose a problem, I must just bite the bullet and get out there with my camera. Probably only on the weekend as I work from home and have a fully booked week.
A FAV!
