So this is a final grandchildren photo for the moment!! Baby Neil with his Dad and Seanair (this is the Gaelic for Grandfather and pronounced Shenir)
Allan's maternal Grandfather was Seanair to the family and as he's a Gaelic scholar/speaker it's nice to continue the tradition.
Three good things
1. A leisurely wet morning.....no need to rush out into the garden in such rain.
2. The young ones came for lunch and to explore the things they put in our 'spaces' to clear their apartment before the wedding last year. Fun to have baby time.
3. Delicious dinner gift. We had a voucher from a nearby fine dining establishment, who do 'Eat FROM the Green' packs of prepared food for heating and eating at home. It was delicious and enough left for tomorrow!
I think it's brilliant to keep the Seanair tradition going. Plus it's great to have an original name for grandparents. What do your grandchildren call you? Lovely image of all 3 men. :-)
@jamibann I am simply 'Grandma' but as most of the grandmothers in our family have been Granny I'm happy to be a little different!!! The Gaelic for Grandmother doesn't slip off the tongue the way 'Seanair' does!
@sarah19 My mum was always 'granny' to our kids, but my mum in law, Maureen, always refused a 'grandparent' title, wanting to be called 'Mo', quite simply. We didn't quite give her what she wanted as the kids always referred to her as 'Granny Mo', which I think she secretly liked. I'm always intrigued by what kids call their grandparents.
