Morning sun on the mountain

Watching the sun peek over the top of the mountain on my last morning in Spain. A really lovely, rejuvenating mini-holiday, and I feel thankful for every minute of it.

(It was actually 7.16am, not 6.16am - I didn't think to adjust my camera clock to Spanish time!)
ah, perfect lasting memory.. clouds hugging the mountains waiting to warm up and a Flying Lennie - Lenticular (UFO) cloud to the right. Ace.

@sleepdozer57 Why do clouds congregate around the tops of mountains? I'm guessing you might be someone who knows these things! :o)

@zanettie @dulciknit @hobgoblinwychwo @patticake @rainbowsnic42 Thank you for your comments - it really was a beautiful start to the day :o)

@sarahhorsfall ..ah well from my limited cloudstuff - warm evapourated moisture rises and reaches a certain height (depends on many factors - air temp etc). At asome point it then condenses to form cloud.
This builds and builds and tries to climb but is physically obstructed my hills.
It will either rain or build higher/ibe influenced by rising warm air, which will lift it up and over...

..or something like that!

@sleepdozer57 oh wow, so are you saying that in a way it's the air off the mountains that becomes the clouds .. it's not that clouds gather round mountains, more that clouds are made by the vapour rising off the mountain? ..

@sarahhorsfall ...its both. The moisture up the hill has less place to go so kinda hangs there for a bit..building.
..but arriving cloud can't get past a hill cos its too heavy to rise and so they hang until they rain, or the atmospheric condition changes.. or something.!

@sleepdozer57 Cheers, Peter, that makes sense to me .. I was pondering that while I was in Spain, watching the clouds on the mountain tops! :o)
