"We shall not cease from exploration. And the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time." T S Eliot
On Saturday 8th January 2011, I was travelling by train to Castle Cary on my way to a 'detox' co-counselling residential. I changed trains at Westbury and at 16.21, took a photo from the platform of the sunset. This became the photo that began my 365 project.

Fast-forward to Saturday 7th January 2012 and, once again, I'm travelling to the same residential by train. This time I'm on earlier trains so by 16.00 I'm already at Castle Cary station. I set up the timer on my camera, balance it on a wall, and take a rare self-portrait. 365 days later, almost to the minute, I take my 365th photo!
In the days between the first and final photo, I've taken a fairly random assortment of photos, some good, quite a few mediocre, and a small number that I'm really really proud of! I've discovered the fun of editing photos - and I even made it to the popular page a couple of times!
I took some of fruit -

A month of gratitude -

.. and lots of photos of trees, skies .. quite a few selective colour shots .. and hardly any self-portraits (although I did do one of me in the shower!).
And along the way, I've seen some stunning, amusing, touching, fascinating photos from all around the world, and from just around the corner .. and have shared the journey with some lovely, lovely people. I've really enjoyed the connections, the community, the support, the banter, the terrible puns and the laughter. I want to thank all of my lovely 365 friends and followers, with particular special mention to

What next? I'm not sure. I'm definitely ready to ease off from the commitment to take and post a daily photo. I don't think I'll be disappearing completely though .. I may post the occasional sporadic pic, I'm sure I'll still want to look at other people's photos .. and might even have more time to comment, if I'm not spending half my evening editing uploading and writing about my own shots! LOL
wow, and congratulations on finishing your project sarah! ..hope the detox goes well (i'm on our annual month long one!).. and best wishes for your coming year etc.. be nice to hear from you when you dip in and out.. take care mrs, stay smiling and have fun. x
I've enjoyed following you and the banter, puns and laughs we've had along the way.
The discipline of taking a picture a day is hard and I don't blame you for 'easing up' :)
A great selfie to finish off your project and you even managed to get a good sky in too :)
I've had a few people I follow finish their 365 in the last couple of weeks and it's quite sad that a couple of them are not coming back.
I agree with Alison @dulciknit that your naughty occasional fruit series was great, not just for bad and risque (for 365) puns, but there were some cracking images in the series.
Good Luck, take care, give my 'Manc Tree' a hug on 01 February and tell it I will miss it :)
Phil x
@maaikel Aww, thanks, Maaikel - I might post up a few of my 'pre-365' photos, too, as well as the occasional new one :o)
@sleepdozer57 Cheers, Peter - the detox was vegan, sugar-free, wheat-free and caffeine-free .. I've not stuck with all of it beyond the weekend, but I'm aiming to keep up the sugar-free and caffeine-free elements until at least the end of the month .. so far so good! You keep smiling too, mister :o)
@dulciknit Thanks, Alison, for all your lovely comments through the year. I don't think I'll disappear completely .. as for the fruity fruit, well ya never know! LOL
@phil_howcroft Ah, Phil, you've been such a star over the last year - the number of times you've had me grinning or giggling as I've sat at my laptop :o) Good luck with your last few weeks - are you going to be carrying on beyond year one, do you think? I will pass on your regards to the Manc Tree - and you never know, it may make another appearance at some point .. just for you! Sarah x
@phil_howcroft Yeah, easing off a bit is nice .. hope you're not going to disappear completely? :o)
