This is one of those days when I'm replacing my photo of the day for the 365 project. I had one, which wasn't much of a photo but told a good story (I'll find other ways to tell the story in the future). But a few minutes ago my next door neighbor telephoned me to let me know that there was a red fox in my backyard. I have never seen one in the yard before, and took my neighbor up on the suggestion that I grab my camera and take a picture of it.
I shot this from my bathroom window, using my 70-300 mm lens. When I adjusted the screen it picked up its head, which is how I got this shot.
Later, when I went into the backyard to try to get a closer shot, it ran away. So shooting from the bathroom window was a good strategy. Plus I was able to use the window pane as a de facto tripod, which was clearer than the freehand photo I snapped in the backyard before my subject ran off.
I was just happy to have the 70-300mm lens, so I could take the shot without spooking him/her.
