I'm a hockey fan. Not the kind of fan as I am a baseball fan - I live and die by the Mets during baseball season. But I enjoy watching hockey. I've been known to root for the Devils and Rangers at times, but my favorite team is the Islanders. I can't say that I grew up rooting for the Isles, because when I was a kid they didn't exist (and I did root for the Rangers growing up), but my family had a partial season ticket plan during the Islanders' first few seasons, and I followed their four Stanley Cup winning seasons (which corresponded with my college years) very closely. The Isles are my number one, followed by the Rangers (if the Islanders aren't playing) and the Devils (if the Islanders and Rangers aren't playing). Like I said, I'm a casual hockey fan....
Today we saw the Islanders play the Devils in Newark. I wore my Islanders shirt, my friend wore his Devil's jersey, and my husband wore a minor league jersey representing the now defunct Trenton Titans.
I love trying to catch the puck during face-offs, and I'm reasonably happy with this shot. What's more significant about it is that today is the first day that I tinkered with using preset white balance - I'm very happy with how that worked out. It's another baby step forward in my photographic studies :)
Oh, and the Isles won the game, 3-2, in a true nail biter! Let's Go Islanders!
