Chanukah doesn't start until Tuesday night. But friends of ours traditionally host an annual Chanukah party, and today is the day of this year's party.
Over the years my contribution has been either jelly donuts or jelly munchkins. Jelly donuts are a traditional Chanukah dessert (basically, anything fried in oil is traditional for this holiday). I didn't specifically order jelly munchkins in advance this year (this balancing work with life thing is not easy!), so we're doing the full-sized donuts this year. I'm definitely making progress, even if the progress includes days of backsliding.
But today reaffirms why the 365 Project is going to be a one-and-out thing for me. I still hope to shoot almost every day in 2012, but I'm looking forward to having the license to take days off when I'm busy or rushed or just too tired to do it right. I'm grateful for everything that I've gotten from the project, but at the same time I'm relieved that it's winding down.
As a side note - this is one of those days that taking a shot for the project didn't come easily. I'm still dragging after getting home late from a party last night, and I am depleted of creative energy. My consolation is the fact that when I had this kind of a day at the beginning of the project, my quick shot would have been much worse than this one.
Well, I must say that I am sorry to hear that you are winding down, but I also understand why. I am in the midst of year two, but already know that I will continue, as it gives me reason to carry camera with me everywhere, but since you have followed me for a while now, you already know that I am not as diligent as you are as most, especially when balancing work along with two very active kids, so if this is in fact the end for you, good luck, happy holidays, and I hope to see your work again someday.
