Day 42 - St Mary's, Calne

Busy day, today, and had no shot when I had to pop into the local town late-ish in the evening. Had ten minutes spare so took a few shots. It was just starting to snow when I took this one of the church, hand held at a highish ISO to bring the shutter speed down to a mangeable level. I had to be quick though, because the snow was getting on the lens!

Think it's best viewed large.
Now this I like, the snow coming down really adds to the scene and the church against the black sky really works well. You've also some nice shadow on the steps which then leads the eye naturally upwards.

I absolutely love the angle of the tower in this!

This is great...I love it, its very dramatic! I can almost hear Gene Wilder shouting "Its Alive" from the top (Frankenstein)!

Fabulous perspective live the gritty b/w

What a terrific shot. The snow adds something to it (as well as getting your lens / filter wet!)

Superb! Very Gothic feel to this!

Looks like the front cover of a book I once read. I like the aged look that the surroundings and b/w give it.

@helenthedoodler Thanks Helen - great vid by the way! - in reality it's really quite a nice church, but those steps leading up to it so close give it a dramatic perspective.

@atty88 @steampowered @paul2782 @guttersniperebecca @ch1ppy_m1nton Thanks all, tried for ages to work with the horrible yellow lights they use to light it up, but b&w was the obvious answer I think!
