I've tried to photograph this about three times in the past and failed dismally, so I se out with the express intention of capturing it this morning. As the sun moves ever higher and eastwards, the opportunity to catch the sunlight through the arches is diminishing day by day, so I knew I had to get the shot sooner rather than later.
Anyway, here it is, a bit HDRed.
The Causeway was built in the 15th Century to let rural folk cross the flood plain and get to Market in Chippenham, just as Maud Heath had done for all her life, where she had made her small fortune apparently selling eggs. She gifted part of her wealth allowing the Causeway to be built and it is still in use today.
Thought I had commented on this earlier but don't see it now. I really like this too, and commented that I love the story and history of the causeway and the way you captured the light. Very nice.
Lovely composition Kev, great lines a plenty. I like the shadows cast in the arches. I'd also love to see this in B&W since there's some nice contrast there too!
@nebzphoto Thanks Nancy, I did your see original comment - many thanks for that - but I was uploading a quick replacement as I didn't think the original looked too good on screen. Unfortunately your original comment was deleted - sorry about that! Anyway, thanks for the kinds comments and Fav!
This is incredibly well done, Kev, and a fav for me too. I first thought there was water in the picture - then realised it was the sunshine on the arches... I love how you've caught the sunshine in this nearest arch so that the ivy and the fence look beautiful too. Very well done!
@gailmmeek Thanks Gail - for once this was one where a little bit of planning (and trial and error) helped out. Thanks for the fav - always appreciated!
@dave_rv Thanks Dave, yep, it had to be early morning, and it had to be now. A couple more weeks and I think it would be gone till probably December as the sun moves higher.
