@ch1ppy_m1nton ANOTHER bad influence... Keep it up guys, I've already started the "well, we could do so much more with a macro lens" sob story to my good lady (who just gives me one of those looks).
@mizhayz Hi Mizhayz - tripod, 15-85 lens @ 85mm manually focussed right on its minimum focus point, and stopped the aperture down. My daughter had a play with wider apertures which gives a different effect - as expected, the background is blurred out (better?) but the dof on the drops was poorer (worse?). Oh, and turned all the lights off apart from one illuminating the background to stop any extraneous reflections.
@snaggy thanks so much (noted in my handy notebook).. I see I need a better lens.. I knew it would not be long before that happened..lol..really good shot!!
@mizhayz Doesn't matter how many lenses you have, you always need a better one..lol..
Back to the droplets....there's some good stuff on the net, as usual. Quite hard getting the water to bead - we used an eyedropper in the end but the web takes about a hyperdermic needle (!?!) (didn't have one of them). Rain-x to help with the beading as well.

Is that a crack in the bottom right? Have you been dropping lenses? "oh well... it's broken... better get a macro lens then!"
Think of the 70-200 Kev... think...
Sorry for the late reply, but appreciate all the comments and the favs. And to think we nearly gave up because "that was too small" and "this is too big" and the drops were running into each other! Persistence and patience pays off!
