Took this on a rubbish grey day when nothing much usabale came out of the camera - so - story time!
This is a disused Railway Station on the old Chippenham to Calne Railway Line, now a Sustrans Cycle Path. Black Dog Halt was a private station built for Lord Lansdowne at the back of Bowood House, but later he did allow public access.
Black Dog Halt and the similarly named Hill - the entrance to the bridge over the road which goes up the hill can be seen in the distance - is probably named after a sighting of a ghostly dog which was a portent of death...oo-er!
It does look a bit eerie there, especially the dark path in the background. I don't think I'd want to be there alone on a dark night. Great atmospheric B&W, Kev!
