Went to Chateau de Castlenaud on the Dordogne and failed to get that sparkling shot what is a magnificent medieval castle atop of a limestone cliff. This was partly due to my lack of motivation of skill, but also partly due to the hundreds of visitors crawling all over its ramparts.
So, spotted this window with it's view of the nearby Chateau de Beynac. It really needed a tripod shot with two exposures, one for the dark window, and one for the bright outside, but given the almost constant stream of people passing it, that was impossible. So I waited for what seemed like ages for a gap in the flow of people, stood back as far as I could and took the shot, hand held, with the aperture stopped down as far as I dare.
I then had to ETSOOI in LR to get the internal window area to lighten up and the outside view to reduce down in exposure and come up a bit in clarity. Took 4eva!
Came out well though. i like that! my only issue is the sky being darker than the window ledge it is lighting. but im being hyper critical. lovely image. fav
