A murky night in London led me down to Tower Bridge close to where we were staying, and a shot of David Wynnes's Girl with a Dolphin sculpture and Tower Bridge in the background.
All this this after I got told I couldn't use a tripod in St Katherine's Dock Area - I could use the camera, but not on a tripod. Unbelievable....
Love this! I live just down the road and see people taking photos/using tripods all the time so I think there must be a new over enthusiastic security guard on duty at the mo as my toddler was told off yesterday for splashing in puddles in St Katherine's Dock! :)
Lovely shot, beautiful light and colours and a fabulous view! Is St Katherine's Dock privately owned that they can come and tell you how to shoot your photos? Really awful, should not be allowed. That said, it's a wonderful shot and a fav from me!
@sturnus@danitech I think the Dock is privately owned - it certainly has a management company. As to the legal where-fors I'm not sure because it seemed to have a right-of -way where I was standing. The security guy was on the verge of letting me take the shot, but to be fair he was an ok Nepalese guy and I didn't really want to get him into trouble. It's stuff like this that does London no favours at all, though.
This shot was fully tripod-ed - no issue out on the riverside!
Lovely shot mate... seems like a crazy rule about the tripod though. I really must get down to London at some point... it seems there are a lot of great places to shoot. Fav
An amazing POV and incredibly clear shot. So weird about tripods -- I've run into the same thing now at two places in Chicago -- one was Navy Pier. I've wondered whether they don't want anyone except commercial photographers with permission doing it, or they're afraid someone will trip over it. Ridiculous either way. Fav
Good shot - You get the odd jobs worth saying you can't use a tripod here and there in London... Something to do with if you use a tripod you must be a professional.!!!
Awesome shot. Great part of town. I stayed in the hotel behind this dolphin for the Olympics last year and took a shot of Tower Bridge every evening for the the 3 week period. Great shot.
...don't you just hate the whole tripod thing? @mara19500 mentioned a while ago that she wasn't allowed to use the tripod in NY Grand Central station; I was looked on rather angrily by a security guard when I took a picture in a local mall ( http://365project.org/ericdibosco/365/2013-10-14), and all we really want to do is mind our our business and get a good picture in difficult lighting situations...wel, you certainly made up with this one!
How rude, telling you you can't use a tripod...
