This thing goes just about everywhere with me - time for it to make an appearance (with cute multiple starbursts and yet another camera visible through the aperture...)
I've been thinking of getting this lens but can't decide between this one and the 24-105. I know this one costs quite a bit more but they are both L series lenses. Do you think it's worth spending the extra monehy on? Nice photo by the way.
@paula1 Hi Paula, this is a toughie.
If money's no object get the 24-70 USM F2.8 II. It's fantastically sharp - as sharp as most primes across its range and is very fast with that constant f2.8. A lovely lens. Doesn't have IS and doesn't have a huge zoom range but that hasn't been a problem for me.
The problem is the cost - it's horribly expensive. If you don't have L glass, you'll love the 24-105, as all L lens give you a step up over non L lens in my limited experience. Ultimately, though, I don't think it can compete with the sharpness and colour rendition of the 24-70 - you just might have to consider a second mortgage....
Very nice... this is a lovely lens.... I can't wait to upgrade my walkabout lens as I am still using the kit lens but I am heading in the direction of sigma
