Roses and hollyhocks. by snowy

Roses and hollyhocks.

This is the first of the hollyhocks to flower in the garden this year.
Flowers have an expression of countenance as much as men or animals. Some seem to shine; some have a sad expression; some are pensive and diffident;others again are plain, honest and upright, like the broad-faced sunflower and the hollyhock....by Henry Ward Beecher
This is beautiful Diana. Wonderful words and well processed. Fave for me! I think it must be all the rain but our hollyhocks have reached up to the guttering of our bungalow!!

What a beautiful photo, and I love the sentiment you included! I forwarded it to my friend, Billy, who has a beautiful garden, too. I wanted him to be sure to see that quote!

Billy doesn't leave comments directly on 365, but here's the note I just got from him...
Lovely photo and wonderful sentiment.....
ps-----You must tell Diana that D&I spent a week in Ludlow and positively loved it and the beautiful countryside....Noticed the picture of Stokesay Castle (which we saw) and that got me reading her profile.....Could have even queued up in a shop there with her or sat next to her in a pub having a pint!......................b

I'm hoping for a lovely hollyhock colour like this this year - they self seed in the front garden but the rain has really ravaged it - the rust has been terrible.
