The University of Georgia

I attended a funeral yesterday in Athens, GA, home of the University of Georgia (UGA), my alma mater. The mother of one of my best friends from law school passed away - she was 89 and had a great life. After the funeral, I decided to walk the campus with my Nikon. This is a view of a small part of North Campus, with the main library in the distance, taken from the President's Garden. The law school is just to the right of this image. North Campus is the most beautiful part of the campus, with buildings that date back to 1806. Today begins a new and lengthy series showcasing both Athens and my alma mater. All images in this series were taken with my 35 mm prime lens. Best viewed large.
Looks glorious! Jealous much? Yes, yes I am!

Danny this is gorgeous. Wonder if you appreciated the beauty in your college days. I don't think I thought often of the world around me at that point in my life.
I have to say that I love the pansies, green grass and sunshine!
Sorry about your friend's loss.

sorry for your loss , it's so hard as we get older losing people we love. This is a fitting tribute shot with so much life in it. What green grass you have already.

I really like it, says the Gator.

This looks three dimensional. The sundial seems to pop out of the rest of the photo.

@cdonohoue Thanks, Cathy. By the time I was a senior at UGA, I had decided that I was going to graduate and law school there and one of the reasons is that I wanted to be surrounded by the beauty of North Campus for another three years - I have always appreciated the beauty of nature, even as a child.
@danette Thanks, Danette - your comment is even more meaningful since you are a Gator!
@rvwalker Thanks, Ross - that was exactly the look I was going for and I am glad it worked!

Lovely looking campus. I love all of the greens. Love your focus on the front and that the figure in the background is blurry. I want to FSU:). Sad that your circumstances were a funeral, but nice that you got back to your alma mater. I miss mine!

As you can see, I'm working backwards and didn't see this shot until after I viewed today's shot. I'm sorry about your friend's mother, but how nice you had a chance to go back to your alma mater. My husband as you know is a HUGE UGA fan although he went to Stetson. He converted me 27 yrs ago and I am an avid supporter of the Dawgs. Love how you focused on the flowers here....beautiful scene and great photo!!
