After checking out Grand Central Station, I headed west on 42nd Street and arrived at the main branch of the NYC Public Library. I was greeted by Patience and Fortitude, the iconic pair of marble lions that stand proudly before this majestic Beaux-Arts building. The lions are 102 years old and proudly guard the north (Fortitude) and south (Patience) sides of the library's steps. Best viewed large to see the lion's winged visitor who photo-bombed my capture :)
I spent an hour at the library, seeking a bit of quiet from the frenetic pace of Midtown Manhattan. Next stop - my favorite museum in NYC, the Museum of Modern Art, a/k/a MoMA.
