Can't you see my walls are crumbling?

During our trip to WV my husband was eager to see some of his old haunts. Unfortunately, because his childhood was so long ago many of them are more likely to be the home of haunts and ghosts than living persons now. We intended to merely poke around the outside of this building, one of the elementary schools he attended, but upon finding an unlocked door he was curious to see inside. The building was full of debris, peeling paint, and abandoned furniture and fixtures. Not to mention some extremely curious graffiti honoring Bob Hope. Don't ask. I have no idea why either.

Unfortunately, I didn't make the most of those prime conditions so most of my shots were too dark or blurry as a result of the darkness. A shame because I would have loved for my first attempt at photographing a derelict building to have turned out better. Oh well, at least now I have some idea of where I went wrong and I learned the #1 most important lesson about traipsing around an abandoned building: make sure to wear close-toed shoes. I'm lucky I didn't slice my feet open on all of the broken glass everywhere.
very cool photo. I love the editing here. The colors are so dingy and perfect...gives a very haunted feel!

WRINKLES! This is rad. Quite the eerie place, I'd say. So, essential trespassing gear: Shoes you can run in, jump in, and not get your feet torn up in. A mask (for your mouth and nose, not a scary mask like normal). A Maglight (it acts like a weapon without being an actual weapon, so if the cops come after you, they won't add that to the list of crimes). A hooded sweatshirt (shiz crumbles on your head...nasty). Put all this in a backpack and what do you get?! A good night being a naughty trespasser! Wweeeeeeee! ;)
Bob Hope? Oh, I will ask. Do tell. Maybe their is a Bob Hope Cult. That would be fun.

I'm sure this place would look impressive even without your cool editing. Glad you had your husband around - probably not safe to walk there alone and with a camera!

Thank you, everyone!

@naladka I don't think I would have been brave enough to go in by myself. Not only was I worried about running into strange people camped out in there but with the way everything was falling down I had to worry that the floors might collapse or something. That's why I let him go ahead of me into each room to make sure the floor would hold. :)

I would love to make a photo in that place, I liked this photo a lot, the tone, the decadent feeling on the photo
