Boy came home with his hobbit feet all filthy. This is the best I could do in the limited time we had before football training. It is a (poor) copy of Feet 50, 1957. Mr Siskind would not be happy.
I find it interesting how you did your photo of the day on feet when I was planning on doing my picture on hands the whole time.
This comment was so pointless you wasted 10 seconds of your life reading it but if you're still reading, great photo and I like how you've framed it and the contrast works well :)
@angelat thanks Angela. I really can take no credit for the composition as it is a direct copy. Thank you for taking the time to look and comment. Very flattered by the fav!
@rinien Rinie, I struggled to be inspired today so had to rely on a copy. I take no credit for the framing, I went hard on the contrast. Thanks for taking the time etc, etc.
Ok, I just saw the original and I think yours is better too. The rougher gravel texture adds so much more to this pic and your boy's feet R much prettier . .
Nice dirty feet ! I had to look up the original too (here - for those interested : http://onlyoldphotography.tumblr.com/post/59391766857/aaron-siskind-feet-50-1957) . Copying - especially in photography - is far from an easy task, and I think you've done well !
That would be really interesting 365 challenges : copying a photo... if you have the time to set up a thread for that, I'm sure it would be a very successful theme !
@tabbycat thanks Tabbycat. I am very flattered by your comments. The boy is also pleased about the feet comment. Now he is refusing to wash them ever again.
@channelf@kali66 In art I get my students to initially copy an artists work before they interpret the style/technique or theme into their own. It is a vital learning process. Understanding the technical aspects of a work (or the limitations of your equipment/ability) are important for progress. To copy a photo as a group would be interesting as long as the participants are learning - I learned how to use my tripod to help control the shot and also how to use iPhoto to pick out texture/tone etc. what I do next with that information is (for me) the important part.
It would be interesting to see how people respond to recreating a selected photo. It has also been a good experience looking at and reinterpreting an artists work.
Just my thoughts. Thank you for taking the time to look and comment. I really appreciate your time and thoughts.
