Again continuing with form I went for a classic. I hope this is not too mundane for people. I found this really difficult to do as I have no proper lighting or area that I can control the light particularly well. I would really appreciate feedback on this shot, if you have any opinions or views.
I think it looks very good! It's always hard to photograph these things because of the reflective skin. This is very understated but beautiful in its simplicity!
Oh how surprising to see this in b&w...yeah I kind of like this a lot, it looks more dramatic this way, who would have thought there could be drama in food!
I think it looks good ! I find the angle quite interesting especially the stalk. I would try to remove the window reflections (?) by moving 90° on one side and maybe try to put a piece of fabric to diffuse the light. Maybe I would stop down the lens a bit, 2.8 seems too much.
@kali66 You should see my set up (or lack of it). Kitchen work surface and a lever arch folder either side. White roman blinds that just mute light. @channelf Thank you for your advice - I will try and give your suggestions a go.
one thing i wondered is if you are using a tripod? you would be able to go with a lower iso and then of course experiment a bit more with shutterspeed to get the lighting effect you are after... i often use a very cheap desk lamp from ikea to light stuff like this... but always a tripod...
@northy Thank you for your kind words and advice. I think to be honest I was completely unsure what effect I was trying to get in the first place. I have never even considered playing with ISO. I will give it a go.
This is really cool. I love playing with objects like this - there's such an inherent beauty in the simplest of things and you have captured that perfectly. I like the lighting - I like to play with cheap LED torches for lighting objects such as this.
Spanner, you have done well with this one. It's hard to get them right with the shiny skin reflecting every light source. That's where large light sources work so well, the light is diffused over the whole of it. I'm really lucky to have a huge bank of windows right in front of my computer desk, so I get some interesting oft indirect light from a huge lightbox that's about 5 metres long and 2 metres high!
