Lake Bolsena by spectrum

Lake Bolsena

The Bolsena Lake is situated in Central Italy, formed over 300,000 years ago following the caldera collapse of some volcanoes. It is the largest volcanic lake in Europe.
It has an oval shape, two islands and a river outlet. It is located entirely within the province of Viterbo.
Lake Bolsena has a natural environment largely untouched and it is one of the few great Italian lakes to be completely swimmable. The cleanliness of the water has guaranteed an extraordinary development of plant and animal species, including many species of algae and aquatic plants almost completely disappeared in other basins.
