My dad was a long time typewriter repair man, and now that he is retired, he still fixes them on the side sometimes. My parents are cleaning the house, and he had a lot of 'parts' typewriters that were taking up space, but before they put them out for recycling, we got this awesome photo.

Oh! Wow! Old IBM electric typewriters from around 1980 - 1982! My Dad brought home something like this from work once and I used it until it blew up on me... I wrote 3 books on it - including my first one titled 'Angie' and a quarter of my second book 'Chronicles of Ravenstine Kingdom' - and then he found me another one from work of a later model, which was harder to fix. And I used that one until it also blew up on me... then I upgraded to a laptop. Now, I've got a desktop computer here at home, and use a tablet while I'm out. :)
Aaah... but not all is invisible! I have an Olivetti Lettera32 from 1973 (the year I was born) and that was my Grandpa's. He wrote his life story on that typewriter; and believe it or not, it's outlasted all the typewriters I've ever owned! It still runs - but nobody makes the ribbon anymore! So, I'm stuck having to hunt it down online.
