This is my first try at the tag challenge for this week. I ended up picking 'duck' and 'portrait'. After two days of looking, I finally found some ducks, but they were very unfriendly and wouldn't let me very close to them despite the fact that I brought them bread. The sea gull up front was a lot more eager to eat my bread, so I decided the portrait would be of him instead. I think I'll try later this week to go to the canal under the Fremont bridge to find a duck that will let me get a little bit closer. They're usually pretty friendly down there.
@hohohokaren It's the only camera I've got. Maybe some day when I have an idea of what I'm doing, I might get something fancier, but I kind of like being able to carry it around in my pocket.
I like this photo for several reasons: the colors are visually interesting, the gull is definitely telling the story, but the whole composition works in that it completely corroborates your narrative!
PS I haven't done a tag challenge yet but I have done many other themed and just fun challenges and I like participating and trying things I would never have otherwise considered. I hope you have fun, too!
@bill_fe Thanks. I still might give it another try before the 14th. I had a revelation yesterday that I should be hanging out around fresh water not salt water. I have a feeling fresh water ducks will be more friendly.
