My morning was filled finishing up 400 small eclairs. They key is not to mess any of them up, because those little 3 inch buggers each have at least 300 calories. When I first started learning how to make these, I gained quite a few pounds. Today, I only had to eat one. I goofed and dropped the whole thing into the ganache. The extra chocolate probably added some calories too...alas my life is so hard :b
Also, how would you crop this shot? I did it to cut off the edges of the sheet pan to make it look endless, A trick mentioned to me by @jyokota, but it still looks off.
Good call cropping off the edges of the pan! I don't think I'd crop it any further, but I may have tried to go with a full on birds eye view, like this: http://www.sugarduchess.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/IMG_3517.jpg as opposed to angling it ever so slightly, just to further compliment the look of endless donuts.
Which, by the way, I would shamelessly eat. They look delicious!
Oh, such enticing eclairs! Your narrative made me smile, imagining you being careful enough not to have to eat too many. I wonder if your sense that it's still off is because there's a wider gap visible along the bottom, likely because of the angle you shot it? You could crop one more row of eclairs off the bottom to eliminate that gap. I like @batmats 's suggestion for an alternate view, next time you make eclairs! Also, why not one where you bend your knees a bit and shoot at an increased angle than this one? Keep your aperture number small, focus on the foreground eclairs, and let the background ones drop off in a bokeh blur?
These look divine. When I take photos like this I sometimes get down low and take the photo looking across the food and focus on one of the the items. Shooting like this makes it appear that there are many of the same object.

They are delicious.
