Here's something else I tried for the 'Eye of the Beholder' challenge. I ride by this spot almost every day. For years a guy lived under this bridge. He was always there, but recently it looks like he was evicted. I originally stopped to take a picture of his old living space under the steps. There was a tree there, I never noticed before, but in the end I decided to go with this shot of a hole in the gate to the rail road right next to where he lived. It had a certain quality to it.
Interesting composition, and I wonder if it's the many strong lines, and bold colors of those lines that gave it the "certain quality." Or, perhaps, the graffiti in the foreground? IN any case, it certainly shows EOTB!
This spot is not that far from the security gate onto the industrial pier where I work. The guards were definitely within earshot. Nonetheless, because I've worked many odd hours as a baker, while commuting on my bicycle, I've grown accustomed to being ready for anything.
@jyokota Thanks. My favorite part was the knotted up fence, but I think your right about the lines and colors. The spot under the stairs was pretty gray except for the tree. There was this other part where where the bridge braces were covered in ivy that looked pretty cool too.
@stephomy -- I think that knotted up fence is important in this composition -- it's what adds interest within all those lines. It would be interesting to try to get a picture of where the homeless man lived, as a challenge to get an angle to "show" his home spot . . .
@jyokota of course the best angle to do that would be to go onto the other side of the fence. I'm not sure how the guards would feel about that. I'll have to think of an other angle.
