This is the awesome art-deco Hoover Building on the A40 road that goes in and out of west London.
I've taken a shot of this before but it wasn't good enough to make it to 365. As I was driving past, I noticed the sun bouncing off the front against the very moody clouds behind so I parked up nearby and got my SLR out of my bag and ran up the road to grab a shot. I have always liked it and I love how I live so close to it now.
It's actually not in use now, and behind it is a Tesco supermarket. Some people think this is vile, another big corporate giant taking over somewhere like this but I think it's great as they keep the building running. At least they didn't knock it down.
At night when this is lit up with neon lights, the same colour green you see in between the windows it looks wicked. I should come back a get a night shot next year.
I can almost see you running back there to get a good shot. .lol ahh the things we do for a photo. This is a fantastic building and the light makes it look golden and outstanding. It was worth the run dear.
@deniseescovino Thank you. I have on so may occasions seen a shot and thought 'not this time, i'll get something else later'. Next year I hope to have my camera on me even more and if I see one, to go and get it!
As a child we used to pass this building on the regular visits to my Nan. For some reason I loved it then and I still do - great architecture. Happy New Year Steve.
Wonderful retro architecture, set off brilliantly by that moody sky! You are so right when you say you often pass buildings and places by and think 'next time'.... I'm guilty of that and am going to make a concerted effort to seize the moment whenever possible!
"Right I better hoover this place up!"
"Err, you mean you're going to vacuum??"
"No. I'm going to hoover!"
:)
Happy New Year Lucy!
